It was in 2000 that l’Accademia barocca Willelm Hermans was willed into existence by its conductor Fabio Ciofini, bringing in young instrumentalists and singers overwhelmed by his enthusiasm and passion for baroque music and wishing to study this repertoire, as well as the way of performing it. That marked the beginning of a journey which has led the Accademia and its members - coming from the most important European Music Schools - to obtain a constantly increasing consensus on the Italian concert panorama, as well as to collaborate with famous specialized musicians such Gloria Banditelli, Marinella Pennicchi, Hendrike ter Brugge, Sergio Foresti, Mario Cecchetti, Mirko Guadagnini. The meeting with Enrico Gatti, since 2006 first violinist, marked a moment of further growth for the orchestra trough the happy marriage between his instrumental expressiveness and refinement and the emotional drive, stylistic rigor and interpretive clarity of its conductor.
Through the far-seeing and untiring work of its president and flautist Fabio Ceccarelli, the Accademia organizes two Festivals: “Parco ... in musica”, held in historic locations of the Valnerina, and “ Concerti al Castello”, held in the Sala degli Affreschi of Palazzo Castelli in Polino, seat of the group, allowing the orchestra to pursue its primary objective of the diffusion of early music as well as the cultural growth of the surrounding territory. Ensemble recordings are available under the label of Bottega Discantica.
